Day 01 : Arrival in Istanbul Upon arrival to Istanbul Ataturk Airport, you will be met by our staff & accompanied during the transfer to your hotel. You have the afternoon & evening free to relax &/or check out the city. Overnight Istanbul Day 02 : Istanbul Pick up from your hotel lobby, with a small group we head to explore the bustling Egyptian Spice Market of 17th century origin. Next we take a ferry up Istanbul's winding Bosphorus strait. You will see, Ottoman summer mansions & the beautiful Ortakoy mosque, the defensive Rumeli Fortress, all alongside passing fishing boats, yachts, huge cargo ships & tankers. After a lunch break back on shore, we will visit Dolmabahce Palace before returning back to our hotels for overnight stay. Day 03 : Istanbul Free day at leisure. Day 04 : Istanbul / Eceabat / Gokceada Morning pick up from hotel lobby & 4hr drive to Eceabat. Free time in Eceabat, afternoon ferry from Kilitbahir to Gokceada (2hrs). Upon arrival to Gokceada, transfer to your hotel. Overnight Gokceada. Day 05 : Gokceada Gokceada is the largest island of Turkey with a surface of 279 sq/km. The island has a small Greek community scattered in a number of villages. The Island has beautiful coasts, crystal clear waters, breathtaking sunsets over the Aegean sea & is also famous with its organic cuisine & wine. Greek & Turkish villages, rolling hills, pine forests & craggy small mountains along with plenty of farm animals give the Island its traditional charm. Overnight in Gokceada. Day 06 : Gokceada You can virtually swim in anywhere of the island’s coastline exceeding 100 km in length. Some areas near the northeastern portion of the island’s coasts has been declared Turkey’s first and so far the only underwater national park. Kefalos (Aydıncık) beach has become fairly famous lately with surfers Turkish & International alike. The 3 most liveliest villages are Kalekoy, Zeytinli & Tepekoy where one can enjoy Greek & Turkish cuisine in the same setting. Overnight Gokceada. Day 07 : Gokceada / Canakkale / Assos Check out from hotel & transfer to the port for the morning ferry back to Kilitbahir. Free time in Eceabat for lunch, then boarding a coach to Ayvacik (Behramkale) 2hrs. Transfer to Assos upon arrival. Assos was founded in 700 B.C. & is a tranquil Aegean Coast seaside retreat that falls among the ancient ruins. The hill at the top of Assos offers a spectacular view of the Aegean Sea as well as the nearby Greek Island Lesvos. On the ancient city’s extension down to the coast there is a small modern settlement today, made up of restaurants, hotels & houses. Take a stroll along the ancient way that rises from the port to the temple area. Or simply enjoy the fine food (especially fresh seafood) & wine down at the town harbour. Overnight Assos. Day 08 : Assos Free day at leisure, walking around this charming village one will observe the Greek heritage & Turkish village life has blended in perfect harmony. Assos, has hosted a number of civilizations in its millennia old history, most notably that of the ancient Greeks. Socrates & Plato are said to have lived & taught here where Aristotle also founded his School of Philosophy. Overnight in Assos. Day 09 : Assos / Pergamum / Kusadasi Noon check out from hotel to join a small group tour to Pergamum, where different healing methods like therapy with music & sound of water were first used. Visit Asclepion, ancient medical center built in the name of Aesculapis, 'God of Medicine'. Lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch continue to Pergamum Acropolis. Visit Athena & Trojan Temples, Temple of Zeus, Temple of Dionysos, Gymnasium of Youth, Odeon, Library, Agora, Great Theatre & Roman Bath. 3hrs drive south to Kusadasi for overnight stay. Day 10 : Ephesus / Kusadasi to Izmir / Flight to Istanbul We visit the Ancient City of Ephesus which is among the best places in the world enabling one to genuinely 'soak in' the atmosphere of Roman times & one of the best preserved Greco-Roman Cities in the world. After lunch, we depart to visit the House of Virgin Mary where she is said to be brought here by St. John & have spent the last of her days. The tour also includes a visit to the remains of Artemis Temple which was one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World. Transfer to Izmir Airport for afternoon Istanbul flight. Transfer to your hotel upon arrival. Overnight in Istanbul. Day 11 : Istanbul Departure Breakfast at hotel, check-out & depending on your flight time, transfer to Istanbul Ataturk International Airport for homebound flight. |
